BUTTERFLY ROOM | 2-3 years

BUTTERFLY ROOM

2 - 3 years

Our Toddler room is a spacious room set out to encourage and enable learning throughout all areas of the EYFS through play. The room has its own kitchenette, children's toilet including changing area and sleep area. We promote our children in growing in independence and actively encourage children to make choices and self select resources.

In our toddler room we promote all 7 areas of the EYFS

Prime areas

Personal, Social & Emotional
Development
Physical Development
Communication & Language

Specific Areas

Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding of the World
Expressive Art & Design
These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.
Our room is designed to give the children a holistic experience. Resources are set out, so they can be reached by the children and are chosen to stimulate all their senses and their learning and development of the prime areas of the EYFS.

Our Room

Our room is large and open plan with all toys and resources accessible by the children prompting self-selection and independence.

We have our own dedicated toilets and nappy changing facilities which enables us to promote toilet training when we feel your child is ready. We like to work in partnership with parents to support toilet training we will provide you with a copy of our toileting routine to assist you at home and ensure we are all working towards the same goal.

We have a cosy area which is for story time and also nap time. Each child is given a designated bed and bedding which is stored in their bed bag and washed weekly.

We share the same garden as Rainbow Room which has resources and equipment to develop our minds and imaginary play. We also set up and extend our activities from indoor play when we go outside.

Routine

Routine is important for the children to feel safe and secure in their environment and to understand what is expected of them and what is going to happen next.

Partnership with Parents

You will find a feedback board in our coat area which is updated daily with what we have eaten and activities for the day. Information about toileting or nappy routines will be placed in your child’s bag for you to see at the end of every day.

We like to invite parents in for reading mornings and to carry out activities with the children, for example, teaching songs in another language, baking a traditional dish.
